Having half filled the hole back on the 28th June, I finally came to complete the job, I'd had to take my car to the dealership the day before because the engine warning light was coming on intermittently, I had to return it on the 7th as well, but they had a courtesy car for me on the 7th so I was able to come home, took the dogs for another walk, then decided to get on with finishing the cementing, so I could start preparing the room to be plastered, finishing this hole didn't take too long, though used way more cement than I expected.

Having quickly filled in the remainder of the hole under the windowsill, I then set about tackling the hole in the corner of the wall, this is the hole I had filled in with expanding foam which of course expanded to be far larger than the hole, it took quite some time with a Stanley knife to cut away the excess foam to the extent there was no foam sticking out of the hole and in fact cutting it back enough so I could at least get about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch depth of cement into the hole, in fairness I got a far deeper depth of cement in most of the wall, it was only at the very top where most of the foam had been used where the depth of cement wasn't as deep as some of the gaps lower down where there was no foam, but overall I achieved what I set out to do, which was to fill in the cracks so there was a well defined "corner" between the two walls, previously they had been filled with some kind of filler but in a curved manner which would have made plastering more difficult and wouldn't have looked a clean.

Hole between two walls

This was the last bit of cementing to do, just a couple of smallish but deep holes around one of the doors, fortunately I still just about had enough mortar to complete the job, to do the holes where I had not used the rapid drying mortar mix had used up nearly the whole of the 20KG bag I had bought. This last little bit didn't take very long at all, probably 10 minutes in total, and at the end of it, all the cementing was complete.
