Took me a little while, but I finally got to apply the third coat, took a little bit of time to make it as smooth as possible, and bearing in mind I've never done any plastering before, I think it's not too bad a job at all. Glad I started on this wall, the remaining walls in the room were not as simple as this one at all, what with windows, fireplaces, door frames, switches, non 90 degree corners and sockets they were a little more challenging.
So you might be thinking why is the window looking warped, well that's because this is 4 photos stitched together, and because of the slightly odd angles that the photos were taken at, it meant that when I stitched them together it didn't quite come out entirely square. I could spend a lot of time in Photoshop trying to straighten the window frame up, but I have better things to do :).
This wall was quite difficult to do, first off it had the window in it, the underlying wall was far less "flat" than the first wall, there were the large patches where I'd had to fill in the holes with cement first to at least get them nearly level with the rest of the wall around them, under the window, the wall was quite difficult to plaster, it was far from flat and had the added complication that the window sill is made up of two separate pieces, I think at some point in the past there was a wash basin in the room where part of the window sill has been cut away. As with the first wall I ended up applying three coats of plaster, it's not perfect by any means but I think it's much better than it was before I plastered it.
This was fiddly as hell to do, there was the light switch the radiators switch, fortunately the radiator wasn't mounted on the wall when I did the plastering. Going round the fireplace was tricky too, since it's at about a 45 degree angle to the other two walls there's no "hard" edge where one wall meets the other, but I managed it.
I only really got up to the edge of the door frame before i ran out of plaster, and since it was Christmas Eve, I didn't think I'd have much joy in getting any more so called it a day for 2017.
Happy Christmas room, you're nearly finished at least as far as the plastering goes.
