Despite only a short amount of time between this update and the previous one, quite a bit of work had taken place.

The first bit is the installation of new stud work for a new false ceiling, now I'll be the first admit some of what you can see in the images could be better, but I'm not a professional, and as I'll show in a later update, once the plasterboard has been fitted it looks quite flat.

This was actually not as difficult as it looks, I got a laser device that shines a laser light perfectly level around the room (it's level assuming you've set it up correctly), using that I was able to draw a line all the way round the room, knowing it was all level, no need to measure from the floor or down from the existing ceiling, neither of which I'm convinced is entirely level anyway.

Once I'd drawn around the wall it was a case of fixing the wood around the edge of the room, which wasn't too difficult, considering I was doing it alone, only one wall seemed to have a very uneven surface and I had to force the wood to bend to the shape of the wall, took a little doing but I got there in the end.

Next came putting up the studs to provide something to attach the plasterboard to, now I'll be the first to admit, I could have done this next bit a little different, I put the main studs lengthtwise, and in hindsight I maybe should have done it width wise, I may have just about got away with not having to join the wood together if I'd have gone widthcwise as the wood around the edge of the room, might just have reduced the width enough for one 2.4m piece to go wall to wall, however I didn't do it that way natch, so I'll never know, ohh and trying to lift, hold and drill a hole into a piece of wood that's now nearly 4m long isn't that easy, but I got it done as the image shows, and for a the view from the other end of the room, just click here.

New ceiling

The next set of images just show the conduit that had been screwed to the wall, has now been buried in cement ready to be plastered over. This one shows the bit above the door where the original plaster has been removed and has been partially cemented over in preparation to be plastered.
